The project, in Dottie's own words:
| "Piecing a Quilt of Life" was begun in 1996. After more than twenty years of studio work, first as a weaver and now as a quilt artist, I recognized that my work was my path toward wholeness and wondered what experiences other women artists had to share. I began collecting their stories on audio tapes and slides. I now have over 120 stories from women in 16 states. With the assistance of a faithful group of volunteers, this wisdom is being given back to the world through a newsletter; an ETV program entitled, "Creativity after Fifty"; classes; lectures; exhibits; and a book manuscript pending publishing. The project, like life, is a journey. It has no destination other than finding ways to encourage people to value their uniqueness and to see the endless possibilities in every moment. |
